One of my fellow reviewers correctly said there was way too much time spent on the “mystery” and not enough time spent on the character’s relationship. The backdrop of life in the theater is an additional bonus, explaining the expertise that Calliope has with her creative costumes that fooled nearly everyone – except the Marquess.
Mallory seemed to be trying to prove to her audience how cleverly she can craft a plot, adding layer after masqureading of detail and deception.
