Although it’s supposed to be a side-kick, but this book was really “clinically” helpful. I refer to it over and over. Rather than text definitions of all potentially unfamiliar terms, a selected glossary follows the text. Med School Nerds Like Me. Consequently, this book underemphasizes the internal circuitry of the cerebellum, thalamus, and basic ganglia as such knowledge helps little in dealings with neurological problems. They provide far more detail smple is necessary to approach clinical situations in neurology.

The author manages to take a subject that is often complex and present it in a way that simplifies it to the main concepts. The mnemonics and humor in this book do not intend any disrespect for patients or original investigators. No trivia or quizzes yet. I understood more about Neuroanatomy reading this book than reading the entirety of Carpenter. It’s down and dirty, no fluff of the nervous system. Smaller, clinically-oriented books must eliminate those aspects of the basic science which have little clinical bearing and emphasize those aspects vital to patient care.
