Gaunt leads a regiment of about 2, men from the dead world of Tanith. For instance, I can vividly remember there being chaos space marines in here. The group links up with the loyalist resistance on Gereon to locate Sturm and evade the heretical forces pursuing them.
Salvation’s Reach sees another influx of recruits to bolster the Tanith First’s ranks. While I have a number of issues with it. Everyone says “feth” instead of fuck because that’s how they say ‘fuck’ on Tanith, apparently and they never say any swears.
The term Ghosts has two meanings: Mainly as it opened my eyes to the literature coming out from Games Workshop at the time.

There is also a bunch f infighting which Abnett ties a little too perfectly together. The main Tanith curse-word is fethwhich is used in the same context as “fuck”, but it is also the name of an ancient Tanith tree-god.
We will see dwn much shorter those numbers get in the next few novels. Massive battles, intrigue, honor and brotherhood under fire make this book, much like the rest of the series, outstanding.
Gaunt leads them, but he is not Tanith.
Leading his men in the crusade of the chaos infested Sabbat system, the horrors of war appear full yaunt as trench warfare, artillery barrages, close quarters fighting, a demon, a flanking maneuver into the enemies munitions hold, the intense action is reminisce of almost every war movie in existence with no end in sight for the fearless commander and his ghostly army.
It stung, ghpsts, throbbed. This could have really been great, especially with Abnett’s fun and descriptive writing. It is unclear as to whether or not the Elector was elected as the title sounds, or if it was an inherited position like a king.

The Ghosts are appointed as the honour guard of these relics, and together with units from the Pardus armoured regiments they form a convoy and journey into the mountains.

The first two books are collections of short stories originally printed in the short fiction magazine ‘Inferno! These extracts are written in a past tense, implying that they were written after the Sabbat Worlds Crusade ends, and does not normally refer specifically to the Tanith First.
They don’t masturbate either, so the whole thing is very very weird. Tanith’s native wildlife included larisel, small animals hunted by woodsmen — for their fur and possibly for food — and shoggy; small amphibian creatures with bulging eyes that dwelled by woodland pools in Tanith’s forests.
First and Only is an epic saga of planetary conquest, grand ambition, treachery and honour. However, that is the subplot. Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt was one of the last people to leave the planet before its demise, and was saved by a youth called Brin Milo, whom he took with him in gratitude.
