I prefer characters who behave realistically within their situations, regardless of how fantastical or extraordinary those surroundings may hrapsody. The horror that is Rhapsody herself aside, this book has way too many other flaws for me to recommend it. They had wit, skill, kindness tempered with realism and cynicism, and generally just seem more intelligent than the girls. Dragons in Haydon’s world are not romanticized. It took me a few pages to buy in to this new world but eventually it happened and anticipation and curiosity urged me on to each new chapter.
The books tell the story of Rhapsodya young singer of considerable talent who travels across time to a new land only to eliaabeth that it was foretold in a prophecy.
I refused to abuse myself by banging my head, but I did give myself frequent headaches rolling my eyes each time. Haydoon is not well educated but is taught to read by Rhapsody. There are aspects of this book that are worth more than one star.
Symphony of Ages
The Symphony of Ages rahpsody written by author Haydon is a bestselling fantasy series, which begins with the trilogy of the novels titled as Rhapsody, Prophecy, and Destiny respectively.
Neither the characters or the story or even the world itself was of any interest to me. A former prostitute, she studies to become a Namer and Singer, a profession which gives her semi-magical abilities.
Something else to go on that long list of awful things through which I put myself. It did sound interesting, three people transported hundreds of elkzabeth into the future, so I gave it a shot. This new trilogy is called as The War of the Known World. When Achmed becomes the King of Ylorc, Jo stays with them, in a startlingly almost luxurious life she has never known.
I appreciated the mythology. Just leave it alone! I think I saw that the author is a musician, and used music theory to help structure the book.
The fact that she persisted in this misconception lent a sense of false modesty which was really irritating. I’m an English teacher by training, and have a very low tolerance for lousy writing. All of my original opinions from my status update still stand.

In fact, Haydon’s writing is best when it changes to 3rd person limited, a technique she should have use much more heavily or exclusively instead of the omniscient POV she usually adopts. In this land, if something is “very”, it is always “more fill in the blank than you can imagine.
The character of Rhapsody is what’s known as a ” Mary Sue ,” and Haydon’s establishing of her is wildly inconsistent. It’s one of those books where you like the plot and think interesting idea, but dislike okay, hate the execution.
