Fostex has always been highly regarded in the “Full /Wide range” product category. There are always a few that stand out above the others, and the FX is. It looks like there are not so many people that ended up buying the Fostex FX , despite there seems to be a widespread good opinion about. For maximum performance, it is important to have good airflow from the rear of the driver into the enclosure.

I guess this is do to the clarity and coherence of the sound. The response curve seemed good and the drivers generally seem to receive very positive comments from other DIY hobbyists on the forums. The -3 dB point is about 58 Hz. The curved speaker cabinets with a piano gloss finish from parts express seemed like a perfect fit.
Figure 1 shows the calculated frequency response for the FX in a 0. The speaker cabinets are only lightly damped. The amount of attenuation required will be user, room and amplifier dependent.
The bass performance of them is also astonishing when they are placed fairly close against the wall. The sound they produce is incredible. The fullrange driver used is a Fostex FX Glue could also be used. I used birch plywood for the cabinet 16mm.

About 3 to 5 dB of attenuation is a good starting point. The enclosure design is from Fostex as well.
Removing the need for the small Fostex driver to push the bass tones greatly reduces distortion and improves the sonic performance. Post was not sent – check your email addresses!
